The Kings are in the aftermath of the school invasion and Tatum may be sick.
Saint is off his routine, Blake is realizing hating Tatum isn't helping his grief and Kyan just wants her.
They are realizing that she owns them as much as they own her. And they dont all like it.
And then there is Mr Monroe/Nash. He fought for the school, and for Tatum and tied himself to the Kings.

You are also getting some hints of behind the curtain of the boys. You know Blake's mother died, and Nash need revenge. But you learn Saint's issues of control and Kians self-destruction come from trauma.

This is only book 2 of 4, and still the beginning so there is still a significant amount of heartache and trauma in the future.

But they are trying to find their new dynamic with Tatum gaining some control and the boys trying to decide if they want to punish her or worship her. And of course Tatum is out for revenge.
